Why buy battery storage?
Previously, we were limited to two kinds of solar systems: grid-tied and off-grid. Grid-tied uses the electrical grid as their battery— sending out excess electricity during their peak and drawing on the grid at night. Off-grid uses PV and batteries at the same time to power a home that is not connected to the grid at all.

Today, we offer battery backup systems, so you enjoy the best of both worlds.
Battery backups are hybrid systems. Excess electricity goes to the battery first, then to the grid once the battery is full. During power outages, your battery will act as a backup generator, supplying your entire home with power.
Why Choose a Home Battery Backup?

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Going solar is a big investment. We want to provide all the information you need to make smart decisions.
Will these batteries work with my existing solar system?
Yes, both the aPower 2 and Powerwall 3 can integrate most existing setups.
How much does a home battery cost?
Expect to pay a few thousand dollars for a residential battery backup system. They range from $9,500 to $16,500. However, the battery expense is eligible for the 30% federal solar tax credit.
Can I expand my solar system?
Yes, if your battery is no longer keeping up with your needs, you can add more units. Both our battery solutions are scalable. You can also expand your production capacity by adding more panels.
Are there financing options?
Yes we offer in-house payment plans starting at $0 down. Our team will also help you explore incentives, tax credits, and payment plans.
Can I expand my system later?
Yes, a residential solar power system is modular by design. So, it is very easy to add on upgrades throughout its lifetime.
How long does a battery last during an outage?
It depends on your battery and consumption. The average Virginia home uses around 20-30 kWh a day. That is 1.25 kWh an hour on the high end. So, a fully charged Tesla Powerwall 3 (13.5 kWh) could power your home for 10 hours with no sun!
How much storage capacity do I need?
That depends on your system’s production capabilities and your consumption rate. Most residential system owners just need enough power to get through the night. So, most batteries are designed around 12 – 15 kWh. Larger homes, workshops, and commercial facilities will probably need more.
